Obituary

Mr. Robert “Lacy” Carroll, Jr., age 51, of Starke, Florida passed away peacefully on September 22, 2020 at the UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. He was born on October 30, 1968, to the late Robert Carroll, Sr. and Ms. Mabel Woodard Daugherty in Blackshear, GA. He moved around and lived in numerous cities before settling in Starke back in 2013. He was a welder by trade and worked with Texarkana Fence Company for over 20 years. In 2012, Lacy was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He fought a courageous battle, defeating cancer three times before his body finally wore down. He was a loving father, son, fiancé, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his father.

Lacy is survived by his children, Rebecca Carroll of Starke, FL, Luke Rayburn of Texas, and Robbie Carroll of Texas; his fiancé, Lynn White of Starke, FL; mother, Mabel (Hoyet) Daugherty of Starke, FL; grandson, Hayden of Texas; sisters, Ruth (Matthew) Bryan of Gainesville, FL, Becky Carroll of Alabama, and Zonna Carroll of Washington; his step-son, Adam White of Starke, FL; lifelong friends, William, Becky and Elena Kaye Sasser;  numerous extended family and friends also survive.

A Celebration of Lacy’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 27, at 3:00 pm at Archer Funeral Home in Lake Butler, FL. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
