Henton Dale Smith, Sr. known to most as Snuffy Smith, went to walk with Lord on September 26, 2026, at 73 years old. He was born in Folkston, GA on July 11, 1953, but was raised and lived in Providence all his life. Snuffy was a lineman off and on for 25 years. He hung and finished Sheetrock and drywall from his early 20’s until a back injury and surgery put him in a wheelchair or walker at the age of 51, but that didn’t stop him. Even being in a wheelchair/ walker he still raised cows and farmed. Before the injury he loved riding horses and working cows, growing vegetables and farming in general. You could ride by and see him leaning up against his truck digging post holes for a fence or mowing, plowing and harrowing on his tractor. Snuffy was a hard working honest man who was never in the house before dark and instilled that in both of his sons who he raised pretty much on his own.

Snuffy is proceeded in death by his eldest son Henton Dale Smith J.R (J.R.); his parents Henton Lee and Edna Dyal Smith; and his brother Jerry Donald Smith.

He is survived by his youngest son Aaron (lil Snuffy) and his wife Tracy of Worthington Springs; sisters Kathy Harris (Brady) of Macclenny, FL, Karen Cossey (Paul) of Providence, FL; his brothers Timmy (Judy) and Bruce (Christine) Smith both of Providence, and his grandchildren Kolby, Kendra and Kirsten, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Archer-Milton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00am at Providence Village Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Elixson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Old Providence Church Cemetery.

Snuffy leaves behind the memory of a life built on hard work, love for his family, and the simple things that mattered most.
