Mike Crews

David Michael “Mike” Crews, of Nassau County, Florida, passed away on October 13, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. He was 71.

Mike was born on March 28, 1955. He grew up in Baxter, FL and graduated from Baker County High School.

He built a life grounded in hard work and dedication, spending his career with Nassau County in its Maintenance and Lawn Department, from which he later retired. In addition to his public service, he also owned and operated his own lawn service for 38 years. Lawn work was more than a job to Mike; it was something he truly loved, and he truly loved his customers. Many of them became family to Mike.

Outside of work, Mike enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. He loved spending time outside, watching football and NASCAR, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Eva Crews; his brother, Lonnie Melvin Crews; his sisters, Sharon Crews and Diane Jordan; his niece, Leslie Crews-Suggs; his nephew, Gary Sweat; and his beloved fur baby “Baby Girl”.

Mike is survived by his sister, Shirley Sweat, and his brother, Jimmy Crews, his niece who was like his daughter, Tiffney (Josh) Crews-Suggs, his "MVP" niece, Jessica Ratliff, and nieces, Tracy (Scott) Nettles, Cheryl Sweat, and LaShanna Crews; nephews Dalton (Kaylin) Ratliff, Daniel (Natalie) Ratliff, Timmy (Lori) Lucas, and Gregory Sweat; his best friend, Todd Davis; and many great-nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had a special bond with Tiffney, Jessica, and Tracy who cared for him until the very end. Mike will be remembered with love by his family and friends, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler with Bro. Justin Griffis officiating.
