Jack Floyd
Schenck
Sep 26, 1951 — Nov 6, 2026
Lake Butler, FL
In true Jack Schenck fashion, he wrote his own obituary for those to enjoy (or not):
Jack Floyd Schenck succumbed to the Grim Reaper on November 6, 2026. Born to Floyd Edwin Schenck (deceased} and Ingrid Martha Margarette Kuster Schenck (deceased) on September 26, 1951, in Neubiberg, Germany, now a suburb of Munich, Germany. Jack, also pre-deceased by his first wife, Wendy Morris of Pittsburg, PA, and his wonderful wife of 38 years, Ann Louise Cardenas Schenck. He left this side of the grass as the proud father of Brian Edwin Schenck (Lacy), Megan Ann Schenck Stephens (Patrick). His stepchildren, Tony Duane Kemp {deceased}, Eric Allen Kemp (Tiffany}, Rebecca Ann Kemp Norman, and Elizabeth Renee Kemp Purcell (Mike), and Simmone Hassie, as well as a herd of grandchildren and one great grandchild. On May 26, 2023, Jack and Ami Jean Bonevant Hassie were quietly married. While our marriage created animosity among some children, life goes on. I never ran their life as adults and they were not going to run mine. Ami and I had a great but short life together and I’m forever grateful for everything she did for me and deeply regret I was unable to reciprocate.
Jack departed life having absolutely no regrets, at 17, joining the U.S. Army in 1969, and after 8 years, the Florida Army National Guard, serving a total of 24 years. In 1978, he began a 30-year career with the Florida Department of Corrections, working in security, the Inspector General’s Office as well as the Probation and Parole Office. In retirement, he was part owner-operator of Knuckle Draggers Motorcycles and Accessories in Starke, Florida, ending his life of service to his country, state and community as a Commissioner and Mayor of Lake Butler, Florida. He was proud of having been a member of HHC, 1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, a Senior Law Enforcement Inspector, but most of all, the privilege of serving his community as a City Commissioner and being elected Mayor by his peers. Jack cherished the many friendships he made throughout his life and careers, and asks that no one mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life because he enjoyed every minute. He belatedly apologizes for any smart remarks or back-handed insults that may have offended you.
A word of advice I never listened to until it was too late, don’t smoke or vape. I smoked for over 60 years, and it bit me in the end. I never thought I’d live to 50, but I made it to 75, in spite of three motorcycle wrecks including slaying a deer with a Road King on October 1, 2007. The cancer did me.
Per Jack’s wishes, on Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11th friends are invited to a visitation beginning at 11am at Archer-Milton Funeral Home. At 12:00pm there will be an opportunity for those who wish to say something relevant about his life. After remarks Jack will be laid to rest beside Ann at Dekle Cemetery with military honors.
Archer-Milton Funeral Home is honored to fulfill Jack's wishes and send him out in his own way. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
