Vernelle Barnett Sapp, 92 of Raiford, FL went to be with her Lord on October 7, 2020. Vernelle was born to Lessie Elliott Barnett and Vivan Barnett on August 21, 1928 in Lakeland, Fl. Her family moved to Raiford in 1931. Vernelle lived in Raiford until 2018 when she moved to Park of the Palms in Keystone Heights, FL. She lived the last few years of her life surrounded by loving care and support from her family, friends and wonderful caregivers at Park of the Palms. She married the love of her life, Herman Leon Sapp, on January 11, 1947. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lake City Jr College in 1977. Vernelle worked at Northeast Florida State Hospital and retired in 1991. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star Chapter 40 for 25 years and a lifetime member of the Union County Historical Society. Vernelle was a devoted and loving Daughter, Wife, Sister, Mother, Granny, Aunt and Friend. She was blessed with a large and loving extended family. She cherished and loved her children, grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Vernelle loved her church family and was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Raiford, FL for more than 80 years.
Vernelle was preceded in death by her parents, Lessie and Vivan Barnett, her husband Herman Sapp, son Michael Sapp and brother Vernon Barnett. She is survived by her daughters Josephine Pelham (Larry Watson), Jacquelin (Tom) Corley, Deby Barnett, sister-in-law Flora (David) Hartsfield, brother-in-law Rich (Diane) Abell, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces ,great nephews and cousins.
Graveside Services will be held at Sapp Cemetery on October 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tommy Smith and Brother Fariel Kennington officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Archer Funeral Home in Lake Butler, FL.
