Mr. Larry Wayne Vencil, age 77, of Alachua, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, at the North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Larry was born in Bristol, TN, on November 12, 1941. He relocated to the Alachua area over 50 years ago. He worked as a welder for the General Electric Company at their battery plant which later became Energizer Battery. He left the company after 30 years of employment to pursue his own business. He loved working on cars, tractors and equipment. Larry was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed spending time at home with his family, working in his shop, and taking care of Teddy, Half-Pint, and Sport. He will be deeply missed.

Mr. Vencil is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Putman Vencil of Alachua, FL; his children, David (Celia) Vencil of Keystone Heights, FL, Todd Vencil, Shaun Morris, and Traci (Sidney) Stidham all of Alachua, FL; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; sister, Kathy (Wayne) Bush of Kernersville, NC; and three lifelong friends, Manuel Gonzalez of Gainesville, FL, Charles Davis of Alachua, FL, and Johnny Welch of Lake Butler, FL.

A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held on Friday, November 8, at 6:00 pm at the Archer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 pm and there will be a reception immediately following the service.
