Jake Dawayne Varnes

Jake Dawayne Varnes, affectionately known as “Two Step”, passed away Saturday, June 6th at home with family and friends by his side. Dawayne was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 21, 1949 to the late Jake L. and Louise Molder Varnes. He lived and worked in Jacksonville as a meat cutter for Pantry Pride before moving to Lake Butler in the early eighties and then working thirty-three years at the sawmill. He was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church in Starke, Florida. Dawayne is preceded in death by his parents.

Dawayne leaves behind a loving wife of 36 years, Sandra Parrish Varnes; two brothers, Carl Varnes (Nita) of Lake Butler, FL and Ed Varnes (Theresa) of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Sherry Varnes Jenkins (Joe) of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nephews and nieces also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00am at the Varnes Cemetery in Lake Butler, FL. Pastor Roger Worten will be officiating the service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008. archerfuneralhome.com
