Willie "Dub" Farris Waters

On Friday, January 8, 2021 Willie "Dub" Waters, went to heaven at Haven Hospice.


He was born on August 10, 1937 to Jesse Jird and Catherine (Fleming) Waters in Lake City, Florida.  He love doing puzzles.  He was known as the puzzle man at Advent Christian Village Dowling Park. He made a lot of friends while doing his puzzles.  He graduated from Coral Gables Senior High in 1955.  His first job was a newspaper delivery person on a bicycle for Miami Daily News. He worked for Alright for 20 years.  He worked the Lake City Reporter and The Advertiser for 15 Years.  He was Carrier of the Year in 2007.  He also a Member for 34 years of the Bascomb Lodge 363 A.F.M.  While he was a member he also was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge and past Patron of Eastern Star.  He was a Marine Reservist 1955 - 1957.  He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.


He is survived by daughters, Sandra Wilson of Lake City, FL,  Penny Gainey of Mt Pleasant, SC, Tammy Watkins (Don) and Vicky Williams of Hartsville, SC; 10 grandkids; 12 great-grandkids, and 1 great-great-granddaughter; his sisters, Laynette Smith (Don) of Iva, SC, Nora Crowe of Abbeville, SC, and Mary Lou Ward of Easley, SC. There are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that also survive.  He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Gladys Waters and step-son, Ronald Sneed.


A graveside service will be on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Dwight Law is officiating the service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of  Archer Funeral Home.
