William "Billy" Byron Walker was born on November 30, 1951, in Miami, Florida, and left this world peacefully on April 9, 2025, at the Veteran's Affairs Hospital in Lake City, Florida. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Billy touched the lives of many through his unwavering kindness and generosity.
Billy’s journey began at South Dade High School, where he laid the groundwork for his future, eventually earning an Associate's degree at Miami Dade Community College. His professional life was dedicated to communications at Bellsouth, where he committed 30 years of service.
Before embarking on this path, Billy served honorably in the United States Coast Guard for four years. His time working in communications in Alaska instilled in him values of discipline and camaraderie that would shape the rest of his life.
Upon returning from military service, Billy found his true calling not just in work but in life. A member of the Ft. White Baptist Church, his faith served as a cornerstone throughout his life, guiding his actions and his relationships. Family was everything to Billy; he cherished the moments spent with them, always ensuring they felt loved and supported.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Walker of Ft. White, and their children: Johnny (Margie) Walker of Pensacola, FL; Stacey (Jeff) Ford of Altus, OK; Jim (Sarah) White of Lake City; and Misti (Tommy) Smith of High Springs, FL. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Claire Campbell, Byron Ford, Sarah Ford, Gracie White, Hank White, Trey Tyre, Kyler Matthewman, and Abby Smith, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Billy is also survived by his brother, Bob (Renee) Walker of Flagler Beach, FL and his loyal dog, Lucy, who was his companion and friend. Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, Olin and Sara Walker.
Billy’s warm spirit and caring heart extended beyond his family. Throughout his life, he was known for making personal sacrifices to help others, exhibiting a depth of compassion that was remarkable. He had a passion for fishing, often regaling family and friends with tales of his many fishing adventures. An expert in shallow saltwater fishing, he found joy and peace on the water, crafting memories that will linger on in the hearts of those who shared these experiences with him. In addition, he cultivated an impressive collection of coins, becoming an expert trader and enthusiast over time.
