William Henry Todd

William Henry Todd, loving father of Cathy Wilber and husband Will of Fleming Island, FL, Bill Todd and wife Sue of Charlotte, NC, and Patti McGee and husband Todd of Ft. Myers, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Christine Whitlock (Peter), Tim Wilber (Melissa), Elizabeth Perris (Robert), Julianne Todd, Mark McGee and Patrick McGee; and six- great grandchildren: Kyle (Samantha), Sean, Christopher, Katie, Dustin, and Cassie (Gary). Bill was born in King, West Virginia on April 25, 1918, to Clement and Mary Hannah Todd, immigrants from Northeast England. After graduation, Bill enlisted in the U.S Navy, serving in the Pacific during World War II. He was awarded a purple heart for injuries received in action while on the USS intrepid. After discharge from the Navy, he worked in federal service for 42 years, retiring from the Naval Electronic Engineering Command. After the passing of his beloved wife, Marion of 54 years, Bill moved to Ft. Myers where enjoyed friends in his new neighborhood and at Faith United Methodist Church. He was a devout Christian with strong roots in Methodism that can be traced back generations. He loved gardening and giving the fruits of his labor to others. Known as Papa Bill to his grandchildren, he was always the gentleman, a wonderful, quiet soul devoted to family, friends, and faith. Interment will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Dekle Cemetery, Lake Butler, Florida. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 18, at 3:30 P.M. at Faith United Methodist Church, 15690 McGregor Blvd., Ft Myers, FL. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church in Ft. Myers or to Hope Hospice.
