W.C. Blue's Obituary

It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a true cowboy, W.C. Blue, who passed on peacefully at his home on April 6, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on October 29, 1942, in Eastman, Georgia, W.C. lived a life steeped in faith, hard work, and the love of the outdoors.

W.C. was a proud member of Sardis Baptist Church in Worthington Springs, Florida, where he found strength and fellowship through his faith in the Lord. His time with the Lord was a guiding light throughout his years.

When it comes to his career, W.C. sure did leave his mark. He started out serving ten years as a deputy with the Florida Highway Patrol in Troop H. After that, he moved into investigating for the Marks and Brands department—now the Department of Agriculture—where he dedicated 33 years as an investigator. Spending over four decades of serving the people with integrity and dedication.

Outside of his work duties, W.C. was a man of many passions. Rodeo was in his blood, especially team roping and judging, and he’d light up talking about those times. When not at the rodeo grounds, you’d find him fishing or hunting anything that happened to come by the tree stand. Even dedicating 30 years as President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Breeding Ground Hunting Club. He loved watching sports, especially when his grands or great-grands were playing.

Family was the heartbeat of W.C.’s world. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Oveida Seay Blue. Their children carry on his legacy: Donna (Stan) Land, Robby (Janyce) Worrell, Travis (Jessica) Worrell, Billy (Lori) Blue, and Chris (Judy) Blue. His grandchildren: William Blue, Henry (Mackenzie) Blue, Elizabeth Blue, Houston (Diana) Whitehead, Jordan (Bryant) Whelan, Austin Forsyth, Brooke (Wes) Wood, Morgan (Wyatt) Jerkins, Taz Worrell, Eston Worrell, Tate Worrell, Emma Worrell, Addison Worrell, Ansleigh Worrell, Brandon Blue, Kristen Blue, and Kasey Blue. He was also the proud great-grandpa to Kameron and Blake Jerkins, Elijah and Bear Whitehead, Carter Rae, Eva, and Lincoln Whelan, and Jackson and Brooks Blue.

W.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Ordway and Mariwell Coleman Blue.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on April 9, 2026, at Sardis Baptist Church. W.C. will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Elzey Chapel Cemetery.
