Vernie Gordon Elixson

Mr. Vernie Gordon Elixson, age 77 of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully on Monday April 29, 2013 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Elixson was born on July 26, 1935, in Lake Butler to the late Gordon and Lou Elixson, having lived most of his life in the Tampa area until moving back to Lake Butler in 1983. Mr. Elixson was a self employed road contractor for many years and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Lake Butler. Mr. Elixson is preceded in death by six brothers: Little Jimmy, Kirby, John Henry, Ernie, Glen, Donald and Ronnie and two sisters: Alice Cheaty Rainey and Rosie Dees. Mr. Elixson is survived by his daughter: Sue Elixson (Randy Blevins) of Lookout Mountain, GA; sons: Johnny (Debbie) Elixson, Billy Ray (Sheryl) Elixson and Scott (Charlotte) Elixson all of Lake Butler. Sister: Mary Richardson Joy of Wesley Chapel. Eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Elixson will be conducted on Thursday May 2, 2013 at 2 P.M. in the Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Durham and Rev. Roger Worton officiating. Internment will follow in the Elzey Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at Archer Funeral Home from 5-7 P.M.
