Lake Butler

Sylvia Amelia Gibbs, age 81, of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023, at Haven Hospice in Lake City. She was born on February 9, 1942, in Greenville, SC, to Clyde Dickerson and Gladys Rebecca Kidd O'Berry. Sylvia was a dedicated Desk Clerk at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) until her well-deserved retirement. Known for her quick wit and playful sense of humor, she brightened the lives of everyone she encountered. Sylvia had a special talent for making people laugh and was often the highlight of family gatherings.

As a loving mother and grandmother, Sylvia found immense joy in nurturing her family. She embraced her role as mama and grandma with open arms and an abundance of love.

Beyond her role as the heart of her family, Sylvia possessed a wealth of hobbies and interests that brought her so much fulfillment. A talented crafter, she spent countless hours quilting and crocheting beautiful pieces. Her green thumb was evident in her garden where she grew vegetables to can and tended to colorful flowers. Sylvia also enjoyed watching the birds that visit the numerous feeders and houses she maintained.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Danita Crews of Lake Butler, Timothy Wayne Gibbs of Lake Butler, and Ted Winston Gibbs of Douglas, GA; grandchildren, Anna-Marie Carra (Keith) Kirby, Amanda Rae Crews, and Austin Taylor Crews; and her great-grandchildren: Raegyn Kirby, Morgyn Kirby, Daelan Courson, Keigyn Lexi Kirby, Kynleigh Hurst, and Kannon Hurst. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Terrance Wesley Gibbs.

Archer-Milton Funeral Home is entrusted with her final memorialization by cremation.
