Mrs. Sandra "Sandy" Anne Cook Emerson, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 20, 2022, at E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville, FL. Sandy was born April 4, 1942, in Dade City, FL to the late Raymond and Evelyn Cook. She spent much of her childhood in Alachua before moving to Avon Park. In October of 1964, she married the love of her life, Dennis Emerson in Hawaii and they enjoyed nearly forty years together until his passing in 2003. Coincidently, her future husband and her were baptized on the same day, April 8, 1951 - Sandy at The First Baptist Church in Alachua and Dennis at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Alachua. Sandy worked for Santa Fe College in the financial aide office until her retirement in 2001. She was an extraordinary homemaker who loved her family. She spent her entire life loving Jesus and was a member of New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Alachua.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis Emerson; brothers-in-law, Gerald and Ronnie Emerson.  She is survived by her sons, Justin (Trina) Emerson of Bland and Brent Emerson of High Springs; grandson, Cody Emerson of Bland; her siblings, Nancy Beth Smith of Acworth, GA and Kenny (Susie) Cook of Avon Park; brothers-in-law, Wade and Wayne (Karen) Emerson both of Bland; sister-in-law, Marsha Emerson of Bland; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and her dog, Gilbert.

A funeral service for Sandy will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 27th at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Alachua. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00am. She will be laid to rest next to her husband immediately following the service at the church cemetery. Pastors James Richardson and William Crook to officiate the service.
