Russell Wheeler

Russell Wheeler, age 75, of Callahan passed away on October 29^th following an extended illness. Mr. Wheeler was born October 5, 1947, to Russell and Helen Wheeler in Grundy County, Illinois. While stationed in Jacksonville, serving in the U.S. Navy, he met and married the love of his life, Zandra Croft. Following his naval service, Mr. Wheeler worked for 36 years as a mechanic at Jacksonville Transit Management. In his spare time, he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. As a mechanic, he enjoyed tinkering with any and everything. Mr. Wheeler is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Dick, Bill, and Eddie Wheeler.

Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Zandra Wheeler of Callahan; their children, Karla (Jim) Besemer and Mandy Wheeler both of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Alex Besemer, Will O’Brien and Sam O’Brien; his siblings, Jim Wheeler and Rita O’Neal both of Marseilles, IL; and a host of extended family and friends.
