Roy Stover

February 24, 1957 — November 23, 2025

Jacksonville

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Roy Stover, age 68, who passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at his home after a long and tough fight. Born on February 24, 1957, in Beckley, West Virginia, Roy lived his life spreading' joy and making friends wherever he went.

Roy was a hard-working man, full of character and charm. He spent many years behind the wheel as a long-haul truck driver, taking his beloved wife, Betty "Denise" Stover, along for the ride as they traversed this great land from coast to coast. Together, they made plenty of memories on the open road, always stopping here and there to see the sights and enjoy a good meal. But Roy wasn’t just any truck driver; he was also a mechanic at heart and could fix anything with an engine. Just hand him a wrench and watch him work his magic.

For those who knew him, Roy was a jokester who loved to make folks laugh. He had a way of lightening the mood no matter where he was, always cracking a good joke or telling a funny story. With his easy-going demeanor, he truly was a good ole county boy, making friends like it was the most natural thing in the world. He had a knack for working hard and playing even harder, often spending his days fishing out on the water, both deep sea and fresh, chasing after the big ones with a smile on his face.

Roy leaves behind his treasured family, which includes his wife of 21 years, Denise; his loving daughters, Christy (James) Cole and Katie Michelle Chapman; step-children, Richard (Amanda) Pullum, and Shane (Amanda) Pullum; as well as his step-grandbabies—Cheyenne, Harley, Dryden, Alyssa, Anna Lynn, Abel, Destiny, Jordan, Bailey, Stephanie, Alanna, and little Azlynn and great-grandchild Parker Napier. Roy will be missed by his siblings, Doff (Doris) Stover, Trisha Padgett, and Kay (Frank) Hajosch, who have all shared plenty of stories and laughter with him over the years. He is held dear in the hearts of many. We remember him fondly as a family man who cherished his kin above all else.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Zona Thompson Stover, his stepdaughter, Stephanie Jean-Marie Pullum, and his brother, Dwight Stover.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the graveside service on December 3, 2025, at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery in Orange Park, Florida. The service will start at 2 PM, with Bro. Daniel Padgett officiating.
