Roy Barton Cruce passed away on February 11, 2024, at the E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville, FL following an extended illness. Born on February 16, 1955, in Gainesville, FL, Roy lived a life filled with kindness and an unwavering love for his family and community. Roy made his career at the Alachua County Road Department where he diligently worked for 22 years. He exemplified a strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. Beyond his career, Roy had a vibrant personality that endeared him to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a genuine people person and always enjoyed the company of his friends and family. Roy had an ardent love for westerns and college football, particularly cheering on the Florida Gators with unwavering enthusiasm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Mildred Cruce, as well as his sister Vera Prescott.

Roy is survived by his siblings: Wanda (Steve) Sowell of Gainesville, Jean (Monroe) Barnes of Brooker, and Walter Cruce of Gainesville and numerous nieces and nephews that will treasure their memories with their beloved uncle.

Family and friends will celebrate Roy's homegoing on his birthday, Friday, February 16th at Dedan Cemetery in Brooker, FL.
