It’s time to celebrate the vibrant life of Rose Marie Addison, the one and only Sampson City Crazy Lady! Born in 1955, in Starke, Florida, Marie brought her infectious laughter, unparalleled wit, and a touch of flair to this world on December 31st. With her heart in the right place, she met her Savior on January 3, 2026, at her home in Starke, after a brief illness. But fear not, dear friends, for Marie’s legacy lives on, and boy, is it a colorful one!
Marie spent over three decades getting her hands dirty as a mechanic for Anheuser-Busch, proving that grease and glam are not mutually exclusive. With an outgoing personality, Marie was known far and wide for her hilarious antics and confidently proclaiming she was never wrong. If you met her, you definitely remember her – and her truck, which boldly proclaimed her status as the Sampson City Crazy Lady. It was a title she wore like a badge of honor, printed on her business cards, just in case anyone had doubts!
Marie was a longtime member of Sampson City Church of God, but decided to join Brooker Baptist Church in later years. She was as fervent in her faith as she was in life.
Marie had a knack for shopping, known for snagging deals like a pro, often buying multiples – because who can resist a bargain? Whether she was mowing the yard or tending to her flowers, Marie enjoyed being outside and embracing nature with an enthusiasm that would put most of us to shame.
She leaves behind her loving family: a daughter, April (Alan) Smith; a son, Raymond Leroy (Christie) Addison; and her grandchildren that includes Austin Norman, Austin Michael (Brittney) Smith, JoAnna Smith, Joshua Smith, Rachel Allen, Stephanie Addison, Leroy “Shoog” (Casey) Addison, Wesley Addison, Sierra Addison, and Shane Addison. And let’s not forget those delightful 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter and a host of other deeply cherished family members.
She also is survived by her brothers, James “Jimmy” Harris and Michael Wade Harris, who undoubtedly have some good stories to share about their wild and wonderful sister.
Marie joins her parents, James and Pauline Harris, and her grandson, Dustin Smith, where we can only imagine she's making everyone chuckle with her zany stories and legendary sense of humor.
Join us in celebrating Rose Marie Addison’s life! Visitation will be held on January 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with the Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 PM, both taking place at the Sampson City Church of God in Starke, FL.
You may be gone, but you’ll always be the heart of Sampson City, Marie!
