Richard Britt Robinson, born on February 12, 1941, in Ashville, North Carolina, passed away on December 31, 2025, at HCA North Florida Hospital after a brief illness. He led a life marked by dedication and service, proudly serving in the United States Army for 28 years, concluding his military career in 1993. His time in the Army included participation in Operation Desert Storm stateside, where he demonstrated unwavering commitment to his country.
Following his distinguished military service, Richard embarked on a career with the Florida Department of Corrections, beginning in the business department and then getting promoted to classifications. He dedicated 23 years to the Department until his retirement 2009. His professional journey was complemented by a solid educational foundation, having graduated from Palatka High School in 1959. He furthered his education at Florida State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business and later obtained a Master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.
Richard was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Butler, where he spent many years actively participating and proudly singing in the choir. His faith and commitment to the Lord and his family were evident throughout his life.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Richard valued his family above all. He cherished spending time with his loved ones, often taking trips together and creating lasting memories, especially on family cruises.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Linda Pace Robinson; his son, Douglas Britt (Mildred) Robinson; stepchildren, Diana (Bob) Hogsten, Kimberly (Dan) Bryant, and Eric (Richelle) Pace. He proudly held the title of Grandpa, Papa Richard, or Poppy to his grandchildren Brittney (Logan) Betzer, Courtney Robinson, Joey Norris, Jessica (Kenny) Holmes, Kellen Crawford, Aniston Crawford, and Josee Pace. Richard also took great joy in his role as a great-grandfather to Landon Britt Betzer, Tripp Norris, Rylee Norris, Alana Holmes, Kai Holmes, Leilani Holmes, and Brooks Norris. He is further survived by his sister, Janice Husk (John Watterson) and numerous cousins and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents James Britt and Ruth Robinson and infant son, Richard James Robinson.
Richard will be remembered for his unwavering faith, profound love for his family, and his dedication to service. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him deeply.
Visitation will take place on January 4, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Archer-Milton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held the following day, January 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Lake Butler with interment to follow at Old Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Jason Johns to officiate the service.
