Richard Brown, a devoted family man and friend, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on September 14, 1959, Richard was known for his humble nature and his unwavering support for his family.
Richard spent many years working as a corrections officer, where he exemplified dedication and integrity in his career. Outside of work, he was passionate about supporting his children in all their endeavors, taking immense pride in their accomplishments. A great cook, he loved to gather the family around the dinner table, celebrating both everyday moments and special occasions. His love for NASCAR, The Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Florida Gators reflected his spirited personality and enjoyment of life's simple pleasures. He also had a special affection for his family dogs, cherishing the joy they brought to his home. He was known to always make people laugh, feel comfortable. Mr. Brown was the man you could call to help you with anything.
Richard's legacy is marked profoundly by his love for his family. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary Brown, for nearly 48 years—an enduring partnership that exemplified his commitment and love. Together, they raised three children who will always remember him as their supportive and caring father. His role as a grandfather to Eliza and Kellen Martin was a source of immense pride and joy for him, enriching his life with laughter and love.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; sons Matthew (Hannah) and James (Sarah); daughter Terri (Kel); mother Yvonne Brown; sisters Kathy (Chris) Himes and Sharon (John) O'Connell; grandchildren Eliza and Kellen Martin; and many friends and relatives who hold dear memories of his kindness and generosity. He joins in eternal rest his father John Brown, brother Robert Brown, and sister Kendalyn Warthen.
A viewing will be held on January 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, Florida. Mr. Brown will be laid to rest at Sapp Cemetery, in Raiford, Florida, after the funeral service. Archer-Milton is honored to be able to honor Mr. Brown's legacy.
