Phillip Connell Holmes

Phillip Connell Holmes, age 86, went to his heavenly home on January 2, 2023. Born August 8, 1936, Phillip has been a lifelong resident of Lake Butler. He was a simple, hard-working man who cared deeply for his family and others. He was also a deacon at St. John Baptist Church. Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doretha Reed, his wife of 22 years, Gloria Holmes;  and his sister, Hattie Lee.

Survivors include his son, Derrick Cooper of Rochester, NY; daughters, Tocarria Minafield of Ocala, Chelsea Davis (Torrey) of Gainesville, and Jerrayllius Reams (Domonique) of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service to honor Phillip’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake Butler. Rev. Mike Edwards to officiate the service.
