It is with a heavy yet grateful heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Peggy Ann Malphurs, who graced this earth with her kind spirit and loving heart from August 29, 1934, until she was welcomed into eternity on October 7, 2025. Born and raised in Bland, FL, Peggy lived her life with an abundance of love, family, and delicious cooking to share—all proudly served with a good dose of Southern warmth and hospitality.
Peggy was known far and wide for her exceptional skills in the kitchen. A great cook indeed, she was especially famous for her mouthwatering pecan pie, fudge, and divinity that could make its way to the family table no matter what the weather. There was nothing quite like gathering around her table, filled to the brim with food and surrounded by family and friends, as they shared laughter and cherished memories. You could always count on her to have a scoop of ice cream or slice of cake ready for dessert—the sweet delight often accompanied by her graceful smiles and hearty laughter.
For over 30 years, Peggy dedicated herself to her work in the credit department at Sears, where her friendly demeanor and strong work ethic touched countless lives. She had the ability to bless the lives of others not only with her culinary talents but also with her generous spirit. Peggy loved to shop, particularly when she knew a good bargain was waiting for her; she never turned down a chance to find a treasure at the auction—what a thrill that was for her!
After an extended illness, Peggy passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Bland, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She leaves behind her two sons, Terry (Sharon) Malphurs and Carl (Leann) Malphurs. Her legacy continues to blossom through her cherished grandchildren: Dayna (Zeb) Cook, Dustin (Lauren) Malphurs, and Logan (Shelbi) Malphurs. Peggy was also a proud great-grandmother, with eyes sparkling at the mention of Zane, Karis Ann, River Joy, Presley Jo, Jasper, and one more little miracle on the way.
In addition to her immediate family, Peggy is survived by her loving brother, Marvin "Bud" (Imogene) Alligood and her devoted caretaker, Camille, whose compassion and care made her final days filled with love.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Thomas Malphurs, as well as her son Patrick Malphurs, and her dear parents, Archie and Minnie Vaughn Alligood, along with several brothers and sisters.
As we come together to celebrate the remarkable life of Peggy Ann Malphurs, we invite all who loved her to join us for her graveside service on October 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at New Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Alachua, Florida.
