Mr. Barney Green Newsom

Mr. Barney Green Newsom, 86, of Lake Butler passed away September 29, 2016 at the E.T. York Haven Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, FL with his wife and son by his side.
Mr. Newsom was born May 26, 1930 in Clyattville, Ga. To Bryant N. Newsom and Julia Scruggs Newsom. He was a graduate of Gordon Military School in Barnesville, Ga., served in the U.S. army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Nancy Bryant in 1954. He retired in 1984 after 33 Years of service from Southern Bell. He was a faithful member of Brooker Baptist Church in Brooker, Fl. and served as deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Renee Newsom Rodriguez.
Mr. Newsom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Bryant Newsom of Lake Butler, one son Barney Bryant Newsom (Debra) of Gainesville, son-in-law George Rodriguez of Gainesville, four grandchildren; Angi Dukes, Matthew Dukes, Woodrow (Cynthia) Newsom, and Julia Rodriguez; Three great-grandchildren; Andrew Rivera Dukes, Alex Rivera Dukes, and Brady Bryant Newsom.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Brooker Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Samson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held 1 hour prior to services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Redland Cemetery in Lowndes County, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brooker Baptist Church building fund or E.T. York Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL.
Arrangements are under the care of Archer Funeral Home in Lake Butler. 386-496-2008
