Mildred Mentzer, 88, of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. She was born on June 14, 1938, in Lake Butler, Florida, to the late Lawrence and Annie Cannon.

Mildred was a hardworking woman who spent many years working in a factory, assembling electrical components. But to those who knew and loved her, she was so much more than her work. Mildred was truly a character—full of personality, quick to cut up, and always ready to have a good time. She had a way of bringing laughter and life wherever she went.

In her later years, Mildred especially cherished the time she spent with her ladies at the Senior Center. Whether they were playing games, dancing, crafting, or simply sitting around gossiping and enjoying each other’s company, those friendships brought her great happiness. She loved people, she loved to laugh, and she knew how to enjoy the simple moments that make life special.

Mildred’s greatest legacy is the love she leaves behind in her family. She is survived by her son, James Mentzer, Jr., and his wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Amanda Bartlett, Jamie Mentzer, and Nick Mentzer; and great-grandchildren, Rylee and Luke Bartlett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Annie Cannon; her beloved daughter, Deborah Mentzer; her grandson, Jimmy Mentzer; and her siblings, Clarence Cannon, Iris Canada, Joe Cannon, Larry Cannon, and Martha Douglas.

Though Mildred will be deeply missed, those who knew her will remember her laughter, her spirited personality, and all the fun she brought into their lives. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the people who were lucky enough to know her.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Swift Creek Cemetery in Lake Butler, Florida.
