Michael "Mikey" Ellis Jenkins, age 76 of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully at his home on June 3, 2026, following an extended illness. Born on March 1, 1950, in Lake City, FL, Michael’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to both his profession and his loved ones.
For over five decades, Mikey was a truck driver, a career that took him across countless miles and allowed him to connect with many along the way. After retiring from the driver’s seat, he continued to serve through road maintenance, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to hard work and service. Yet, beyond his professional life, Mikey was best known for his giving spirit and his passion for cooking. His famed Boston butts, ribs, and chicken were not just meals but acts of kindness—he enjoyed sharing his creations generously, always looking for ways to give food away to others, embodying his nature as a genuinely giving soul.
Mikey is survived by his children J.R. Jenkins (wife Trina), Michael "Bull" Jenkins Jr. (wife Rhonda), and Alicia Cross (husband Andrew). He was also a father-in-law to Pam Jenkins. His pride and joy included his grandchildren—Montana Jenkins, Hunter Jenkins (wife Cierra), Kaiden Jenkins, Kinlyn Jenkins, and Brayden Hurst—and his great-granddaughter Huntleigh Jenkins, each a testament to the enduring warmth he imparted to his family. Mikey also holds a special bond with his siblings Meally Jenkins, Randy Jenkins (wife Robin), and Tom Jenkins (wife Karen), as well as his sister-in-law, Linda Jenkins and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Crystal Ellis Jenkins, his grandson Kolden Jenkins, and siblings Sally Ann Rollins, Ricky Jenkins, Ruby Arnette Williams, and Samuel Lee Jenkins.
A visitation will be held to honor Mikey on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 5:00 PM, both will take place at Archer-Milton Funeral Home. Mikey will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Dekle Cemetery.
