Mary Alice Ellington

Mrs. Mary Alice Ellington passed away peacefully at her home on March 1, 2023, just one day shy of 92 years of age. She was born in Raiford, FL to the late Mallie and Ona Griffis. Alice graduated in 1949 at Union County High School. She married the love of her life, Harlis R. Ellington and became a wife and mother. She drove a bus for Union County Schools, was a seamstress at Lake Butler Apparel, and worked at North Florida Fertilizer throughout her life. Alice and Harli’s later became partners and owners of Ellington Construction. When Harli’s passed away in 1990, she became President of the company until her retirement in 2000.  Alice was a member of the Sheriff’s Association, Lake Butler Woman’s Club, ALS Foundation, and a lifetime member of the Union County Riding Club.  Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Harlis R. Ellington; parents, Mallie and Ona Griffis; son, Ricky Ellington; sister, Winnofae Fair; brother, Keith Griffis; her twin brother, Dallas Griffis; son-in-law, Larry Davison and granddaughter-in-law, Shannon Ellington.
