Lake Butler: March 4, 2015 Mary Nell Shadd Archer 72 of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at E.T. York Haven Hospice in Gainesville. Mary Nell was born in Starke had lived her entire life in Union County. She was the daughter of the late James Elvin Shadd and Edna Varnes Shadd. She graduated from Union County High School in 1961. Worked at Lake Butler Apparel Company for several years. She was married to Doyle M. Archer August 31, 1962. She and Doyle managed Brannon Funeral Home for ten years before they bought the funeral home in 1972 which they have owned and operated for 42 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Lake Butler.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years to Doyle M. Archer; Two Sons: Jimmy Archer and Duane Archer both of Lake Butler; One daughter: Rhonda Allen and husband Daren of Lake Butler; Two sisters: Linda and Bill Buchtman of Perry and Audrey and Jerry Wilson of Lake Butler; Two brothers: Edward Shadd of Raiford and Allison Shadd and wife Jo of Raiford; Eight grandchildren: Kaleb Archer, Dylan Allen, Brandon Archer, Madison Archer, Sydney Archer, Garrett Allen, Sarah Archer, Rachael Archer all of Lake Butler.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church of Lake Butler with Bro. Art Peterson and Rev. Michael Norman officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6 to 8 PM at First Christian Church of Lake Butler. Entombment will be held at Dekle Cemetery under the care of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler. 386-496-2008
