Lawtey

Marion Franklin Hinson, age 82, passed away after a short illness on October 23, 2023, at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital in Macclenny, FL.  He was born on September 10, 1941, in Doctor's Inlet, to the late Willie and Emma Hinson. Marion was a truck driver; an adventurer who traversed the open roads with a spirit of independence and freedom. His dedication to his work showcased his strong work ethic and steadfastness. Marion's career as a self-employed truck driver allowed him to experience America and meet people from all walks of life. Marion was more than just a career-man - he embodied multiple personas that made him unique. Often described as a jokester, Marion had an uncanny a quick wit. Though stern in his ways, Marion had a kind heart that overflowed with love for those close to him. Despite his occasional quick temper, Marion was known for standing his ground when it mattered most. He proudly served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War, displaying bravery and dedication to his country.

Marion enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He was passionate about gardening and was a human farmers almanac. He could tell you how and when to plant vegetables that would produce the best crop. Fishing also gave him enjoyment. Sitting by a lake or river hoping to get a bite gave him time to relax his mind. Marion's love for reading scripture and listening to gospel music provided him with spiritual nourishment, offering guidance throughout his life. He also had a passion for old guns and anything related to artillery.

However, above all else, Marion cherished his family dearly. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Jessica Lea (Michael) Kelly of Lawtey, FL, and Rebecca Hinson (David) Taylor of Washington, GA. His seven grandchildren: Brianna Hinson (Raheem), Clyde Kelly, Delanie Kelly, Ashely Kelly (Jason), Avalene Taylor, Ryker Taylor, and the soon-to-be Hinson Taylor and great-granddaughter Annabelle Tripp; his brother Jimmie R. (Margaret) Hinson of NC; and numerous extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Edward and Emma Matilda Boxx Hinson; his wife of 41 years, Lena Hinson; and brothers, John Edward and Howard Lamar Hinson.

To honor Marion's memory a visitation will be held on October 30, 2023, at Peoria Cemetery in Orange Park, FL beginning at 10 AM. Following the visitation, a Graveside Service will take place at 10:30 AM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
