Margie Isoline Ford Cason, born on May 25, 1936, in Wilkinson County, Georgia, to the late Henry and Mary Ford, peacefully departed this life at her home in Lake Butler, Florida, on February 16, 2026, after a brief illness. She was a pioneering figure in her community, whose dedication and service will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
After graduating from Wilkinson County High School, she married Jesse M. Cason and together they started their life in Lake Butler. Her career began as a deputy clerk for the Union County Clerk of Court, where she worked diligently for 14 years. During this time, she shattered barriers by becoming the first female city Councilwoman for Lake Butler and subsequently transitioned into the role of the first female Mayor of Lake Butler. Following her tenure in these influential positions, Margie ran for Clerk of Court, serving the community for an additional 12 years in this vital role.
Margie was not just a committed public servant but also a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She leaves behind her beloved son, Scott Cason, and his wife, Cynthia. Margie was also a proud grandmother to Jessica L. Cason, Brandon S. Cason, Jonathon M. Rodgers and his wife, Lindsay, and Thomas C. Cason and his wife, Stephanie. Additionally, she embraced her role as a great-grandmother to Jordan V. Shinholster, Mia N. Shinholster, Emmilynn M. Rodgers, and Aniston K. Rodgers. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews including 2 special nieces, Laurie Perdue and Gail Deen along with a special family friends, Annette Redmond and Jeanette Reeves.
Margie was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Jesse M. Cason, her parents, Henry H. Ford and Mary I. Thompson Ford, her sister, Mary Alice Ford, and her brothers: Henry, Robert, Bill, Joe, Gene, Harold, and Roy Ford. The legacy of love and service that she leaves behind will continue to inspire generations to come.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on February 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Whitehead Cemetery in Lake Butler, Florida. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate her life and contributions to the community she loved so deeply.
