Marcia
Brinson
Apr 7, 1947 — Jun 13, 2026
Marcia Brinson passed away on June 13, 2026, in Lake City, Florida, after a long illness. She was 79 years old.
Marcia was born on April 7, 1947, in Macon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dessie Kempton; her husband, John Brinson; and her brothers-in-law, Billy Melvin and J.E. White.
Marcia was a strong, independent woman who lived life on her own terms. She was known for being brutally honest, confident, feisty, and adventurous. A true go-getter, she never waited for permission to do what needed to be done and was admired for her determination, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was the co-owner of ZIP Instant Printing, where she worked as a typesetting specialist and helped operate the business from 1972 to 1985. Later, she worked at Florida Gateway College in Lake City, where she remained until her retirement. Marcia was also a long-time resident of Lake Butler, where she spent 23 years and proudly made her home.
Family was the center of Marcia’s world. She was a devoted grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She lovingly helped raise her grandson, Dakota, from the age of 12 and treasured every moment she spent with her family. Whether she was cooking a favorite meal, tending to her plants, or caring for her grandchildren, Marcia found joy in taking care of the people she loved.
Marcia is survived by her sons, John Rogers (Christina) and Philip Rogers; her grandchildren, Dakota, Jennifer, Gabriel, Jessica, Jason, and Jimmy; her sisters, Gail Melvin and Marie White; and her nieces, Elaine Buchanan (Jon) and Dessie Calihou (David).
Though she could be outspoken and set in her ways, those who knew and loved Marcia will remember her as a woman of strength, fierce independence, and deep love for her family. She lived life her way, faced challenges head-on, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Marcia’s legacy of love, determination, and family devotion will continue through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
