Mable Lang Parrish, 92, passed away at 5:12 p.m. on July 5, 2016. A Leap Day baby, she was born on February 29, 1924, in Clay Hill, Florida, to Fred and Daisy (Wilkinson) Lang. She was united in marriage to her soulmate, Winton Parrish, on October 8, 1939. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1977; she never remarried.

Mable was raised in Clay Hill, FL, where she attended Long Branch Baptist Church and the Clay Hill School. After marrying Winton, the young family lived in various towns in north Florida before settling in Avon Park, Florida in 1956. Mable worked as a nurse's aide at the Florida Alcoholism Treatment Center (FATC) in Avon Park for more than 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Avon Park, FL.

A consummate wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and homemaker, Mable was an excellent cook and attentive caretaker to all in need. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, fishing, camping, the beach, and the sun, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mable was a faithful follower of Christ and enjoyed reading the Bible.

Mable and Winton had five children three of which preceded her death: William "Buddy" (Norma Jean) Parrish, Garry (Lynn - deceased and Foy) Parrish, and Mable Judy Maddox. She is survived by two children: Reese (Linda) Parrish and Patricia (Herman) Jones. Besides her children, Mable also leaves behind grandchildren: Stephanie (Bobby) Schlemlein, Greg Parrish, Chereese (Damian) Stewart, Melanie Newman, Michelle (Woody) Koon, Holly Queen, Tara (Alberto) Quinones, Paul Maddox, Michael Maddox, Pallas (Mack) Dixon, Garryn Parrish, Jason (Elizabeth) Parrish, Darby (Joey) Keene, Reese Parrish, Maresa (Charles) Casey, and Page Parrish-Watkins as well as numerous great grandchildren and extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16, 2016, from noon to 1:00 p.m. at Long Branch Baptist Church. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at the Church immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Officiating are Pastor Terry Carey and Reverend Harry Conaway.
