John "Johnny" Charles Vaughn

Mr. John Charles “Johnny” Vaughn, age 77, of Alachua, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2021, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. Mr. Vaughn was born on July 29, 1943 to J.C. Bishop Vaughn and Viola Florie (Edenfield) Vaughn. He grew up in Bland and lived his entire life there. He was a farmer and cattleman and loved being outdoors. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Gail Vaughn; his parents; and his brothers, James E. “Buddy” Vaughn and Bobby Vaughn.

Mr. Johnny is survived by his sons, Roland J. (Kelley) Vaughn of Bland and Kenneth C. “Ken” (Maureen) Vaughn of Lake Butler; his grandchildren, Garrett Vaughn, Brooke (Matthew) Bailey both of Bland, Ashlynn Vaughn of Lake City, and Clint Vaughn of the USAF, Savannah, GA; sisters, Imogene (Bud) Alligood and Geraldine “Lucy” Vaughn all of Bland; numerous extended family also survive.

A funeral to honor Mr. Johnny’s life will be held on Friday, May 21, at 10:00 am at New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Alachua. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, May 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church. His services will be officiated by Bro. Terry Elixson, Pastor of New Oak Grove Baptist Church, and Bro. Eddie Blalock, Pastor of the Orchard Community Church.
