Jesse Tyre

March 8, 1930 — May 3, 2026

Jesse Tyre, a faithful man known for his loving nature and a smile that could light up an entire room, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026. Born on March 8, 1930, in Lake City, Florida, Jesse led a life marked by dedication, both to his family and his country, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that touched many lives.

A proud member of the Fellowship Baptist Church for more than two decades, Jesse’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. His commitment to his spiritual community reflected the deep values he held and demonstrated his character as a man of true conviction and warmth.

Jesse served honorably in the United States Navy for 26 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer (E8). His long and distinguished military career is a testament to his strength, discipline, and leadership. His service brought him great pride and respect, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.

Beyond his military achievements, Jesse was a man of many interests. He cherished his time fishing, enjoyed the camaraderie of golf, and was a devoted fan of the Gators, passionately watching them play ball. These hobbies brought him joy and offered moments of relaxation amidst his many responsibilities.

Above all, Jesse was a loving and devoted family man, a role he considered his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Tyre, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. Jesse also leaves behind a cherished family: daughters Nicki Tague, Dianne (Tim) Hannon, Tammy (John) Hornsby, and Gina Edwards; grandchildren Michael, Nickolas, Sarah, Christina, Jeanna, Cara, and Jayme; and a great-nephew, Phillip Alford. The bonds he shared with his family were deep and enduring, a reflection of the loving and nurturing spirit he embodied.

Jesse’s life was also marked by the loss of dear loved ones, including his parents, his first wife Marci, son Michael Hobbs, and sisters Margaret, Carolyn, and Genevieve. Their memories remain part of the foundation of his life story.

A visitation to honor Jesse’s memory will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, located on FL-121 in Raiford, Florida, on May 7, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 4:00 pm, providing family, friends, and community members the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate a life well lived. Jesse will be laid to rest at Elzey Chapel Cemetery following the service.

Jesse Tyre’s impact was profound, shaped by faith, family, and service. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His beautiful smile and kind heart will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.
