Mrs. Janey Bell Rowell passed away on August 27th, 2026, aged 90 in Odenton, Maryland. Janey was born in Starke, Florida, and was the youngest of ten children born to Levi and Lilian Beatrice Rhoden. Janey married James Benjamin Rowell on January 31st, 1953, and they lived in Gainesville for several years before moving to Starke. In 2003 they moved to Lake Butler to be closer to their son Randy.

Janey had two sons James Benjamin Jr. (Randy) who passed away in2015, and Douglas Edward. She was grandmother to Michael, Chip (James Benjamin III), Verity, Rebecca and Daniel and great grandmother to five great grandsons, Hugh, Caiden, Gavin, Oliver, and Wylder and three great granddaughters Caitlyn, Charley, and Kylie.

Janey enjoyed working in patient care in nursing homes until an injury led her to becoming a full-time homemaker. An avid genealogist, she also enjoyed working with her husband in their garden. Her family, her faith, and her friends were the important things in her life especially after her husband died in 2003. In 2021 she moved in with son Doug, in Maryland, but she made sure to talk regularly with her friends back home. In January this year Janey moved into Heart Homes memory care following some additional health challenges.

Janey was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in both her Florida and Maryland congregations and enjoyed fellowship with many people. 

A graveside service and burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10am.
