Mr. Ira Jefferson Gainey, Sr., age 75, of Lake Butler, FL, passed away on January 7, 2019, at his residence. Ira was born on August 9, 1943, in Raiford, Florida to the late Broward Gainey and the late Wilma Addison Williams. Mr. Gainey was served 6 years with the Army National Guard and retired from the Florida State Prison after working as a correctional officer for 32 years. Ira loved his family, especially his boys. He loved being outdoors, fishing, camping or hosting a family BBQ or fish fry. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Williams and sister, Clara Richards.

Ira is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Charlene, sons, Ira “Jeff” (Marchelle) Gainey of Lake Butler, Preston (Jessica) Gainey of Mayo, FL, and Justin (Amber) Gainey of Ray City, GA. Sisters, Sara (Charles) Thomas of Lake Butler, Glenda (Jerry) Terry of Roanoke, VA. Grandchildren Cody, Emilie, Caitlin, Lydia, Logan, Ashlyn, Gabe and Aspen. Close family friend Corey (Jaime) Wilkerson along with a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 2:00pm, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Raiford, FL. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 1:00pm (1 hour prior). Dr. Harold Hudson and Rev. Preston Gainey will officiate the services. Arrangements are under the care and direction of ARCHER FUNERAL HOME. 386-496-2008
