Hayford "H.D." Sapp, a lifelong resident of Union County, Florida, passed away on May 3, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on December 9, 1942, H.D. was a dedicated family man and a cherished husband who deeply loved his wife, Ruth Sapp. He was known for his remarkable storytelling abilities and a sharp memory that allowed him to share countless tales from his rich life experiences.
Over the years, H.D. worked as a supervisor for Pride of Florida, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to his career. Outside of work, he found joy in the great outdoors. In his later years, he delighted in fishing, though his passion for hunting and spending time in the woods remained close to his heart. Additionally, he was an avid NASCAR fan, appreciating the thrill and camaraderie the sport provided.
H.D.'s life was firmly rooted in Union County, where he lived his entire life, surrounded by the natural beauty he so cherished. His legacy is carried forward by his devoted wife, Ruth Sapp, and his surviving son: Kevin (Jamie) Sapp. He is also fondly remembered by his sister, Evelyn Kelly, his brother, S.J. Sapp (Barbara) and his grandchildren, Kenny, Jessie, Darren, Bubba, Ashley, Tyler, Dalton, Kailey, and Leena, as well as many beloved great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, daughter Anita Clark, and his sons, Keith and Danny Sapp, whose memories he held dear.
The family will honor H.D. with a series of services to celebrate his life and legacy. A viewing will be held on May 6, 2026, at Archer-Milton Funeral Home in Lake Butler, Florida, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow on May 7, 2026, at the Victory Revival Center C.H.C. in Starke, Florida, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Randall Griffis officiating.
Hayford "H.D." Sapp's presence, warmth, and stories will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a family enriched by his love and a community that valued his steadfast spirit. May his memory be a blessing and his legacy live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his remarkable life.
