Harold Lamar Tanner, born on April 7, 1927, in Providence, FL, passed away on July 13, 2023, in Jacksonville, FL. He was the son of the late Hubert and Emma Tanner. After graduating from Union County High School, Harold served his country with honor. He dedicated two years to the US Army during World War II, stationed in Germany. He then pursued higher education at the University of Florida. Following his studies, Harold embarked on a career that spanned over three decades as a pharmacist for Pick-N-Save. Additionally, Harold spent the latter part of his working life as an A/C repair man for William and Sons until his well-deserved retirement.
Harold was known for his kind heart, unwavering generosity, and forgiving nature. His selflessness knew no bounds as he continuously put others before himself. Fishing brought him immense joy. His green thumb was evident in his plants and flowers. He also found great pleasure in sitting back and watching football games with enthusiasm and excitement. Prayer was where Harold found the most solace. His deep-rooted faith was an integral part of his life. It guided him through both joyous occasions and challenging times alike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Emma Tanner, and his sister, Lenora Graham. He is survived by his son, Elroy Henderson; his grandchildren; Russell, Kayla, and Krista; and 5 great-grandchildren, Emily, Austin, Nathan, Tristan, and Wyatt.
To honor Harold's memory, visitation will be held on July 18, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Archer-Milton Funeral Home located at 55 N Lake Ave in Lake Butler, FL. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00PM. He will be laid to rest at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery in Lake City, FL immediately following the service.
