Mr. Floyd Tomlinson, age 94, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on November 22, 2022. Mr. Tomlinson was born and raised in Lake Butler to Naion and Lennie Tomlinson. At the age of 17, he joined the US Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years. After retirement from the military, Mr. Tomlinson went to work as a corrections officer at RMC. Mr. Tomlinson loved collecting and working on anything that could be tinkered on or repaired especially antiques. He had a green thumb and would plant a garden big enough to feed his family and friends. He was also a member of Bible Baptist Church in Starke. Above all, Mr. Tomlinson was a kind and generous man who adored his family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Betty Jean Tomlinson; his parents, Naion and Lennie Tomlinson; grandson, Jeff Tomlinson; and brothers, Charles and Wilbur “Dumpy” Tomlinson.
Mr. Tomlinson is survived by his sons, Floyd Wayne (Carol) Tomlinson of Lake Butler and David Alan Tomlinson of Starke; daughters, Kathy Sue (Carl) Lundy and Betty Louise (Anthony) Finley of Lake Butler; his sister, Dorothy Johnson of Jacksonville; 9 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
A graveside service for Mr. Tomlinson will be held at 10:00am on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Swift Creek/Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 9:30am. Pastor Roger Worton of Bible Baptist Church will officiate the service.
