Mrs. Eomy Mazzell Rhoden of Starke, FL passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5th at Vitas Healthcare Hospice Facility in Gainesville, FL at the age of 74. She was born in Charleston, SC on August 22, 1946 to the late Walter Preston Mazzell, Sr. and Jobatha Platt. She worked for the Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company for many years before moving to Florida. She moved to Starke in 1991 with her husband, W.C. Rhoden where she became a homemaker. Mrs. Emoy loved working in the yards, going to the mountains and shopping at thrift stores and the flea market for a bargin. She especially loved her church and teaching Sunday School and crafts for VBS. Eomy valued life and will truly be missed by those who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Thomas Allen Craven, Jr.; a brother, Walter Preston Mazzell, Jr. and a sister, Caroline Gail Davis.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mr. William C. Rhoden; her daughter, Tammy Craven (Johnny Murray); her son, Jimmy (Barbara) Rhoden; grandchildren, Danielle Maree Craven Schroeder, Alisha Ann Craven, Brittany Nicole Hoover, Caroline Elizabeth Reynolds, Jennifer Gibson, Ashley Gaskin and Travis Rhoden; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bobbie Jean Smith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service to honor Mrs. Eomy will be held Saturday, September 12th at 11am at Heilbronn Baptist Church in Starke. The family will receive friends for a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10am. Service will be officiated by Pastor Danny Boyd.
