Dorothy Hellen Johnson

Dorothy Hellen Johnson passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 98. She was born on May 30, 1925, in Lake Butler, FL, to the late Naion and Lennie Smith Tomlinson. Dorothy’s life was centered around her family and friends. She dedicated herself to creating a nurturing and welcoming home for those she loved. Her caring and gentle nature extended beyond her immediate family; she had a knack for making everyone feel at ease in her presence. After graduating from Union County High School in the Class of 1944, Dorothy embraced the role of a loving wife to James Johnson. Together, they built a life based on shared values and created countless beautiful memories. One of Dorothy's greatest joys in life was gardening and tending to flowers. Her green thumb was gave her an ability to cultivate vibrant blooms that brought joy to all who beheld them. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Johnson, her son Terrance Charles Johnson, and her grandson Eugene Johnson.

 She was survived by her son Jimmy E. Johnson, Sr.; her grandson Jimmy E. Johnson, Jr.; great-grandsons, Jimmy Dalton Johnson and Robert Barr; and great-great-grandson Landon Barr. 

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held on October 3, 2023, at Blanding Boulevard Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband at Mount Zion/Swift Creek Cemetery located at 15050 W State Road 100 in Lake Butler, FL, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com
