Donald Earl Wilkison

Mr. Donald Earl Wilkison, age 86, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 21, 2013, at the St. Vincent's Riverside Community Hospice after an extended illness. Mr. Wilkison was born on May 25, 1927 in Lawtey, Florida to the late Bennett Louis Wilkison and Geneva Althea Thomas Wilkison, where he lived most of his life. Mr. Wilkison proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was a combat engineer with the Green Beret Special Forces; he retired from the army as a Sergeant 1st class. Mr. Wilkison was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mr. Wilkison was preceded in death by is loving wife Vergie Inez Lewis and Sister Eunice Edwards. Mr. Wilkison is survived by his two sons: Donald Earl Wilkison, Jr. (Nancy), Daniel Lewis Wilkison (Marilyn); three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and close friend Marcus Jarrett also survive. Funeral Services for Mr. Wilkison will be conducted on Thursday July 25, 2013, at 11 A.M. in the chapel of Archer Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Edeker officiating. Internment will follow in the Lawtey Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8PM. at the funeral home.
