Diana Marie Word

Mrs. Diana Marie Word, age 71, of Lake Butler, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2020, at the UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Diana was born on January 21, 1949 in Hillsdale, MI to the late Richard and Eula Robinson Lapham. Diana was a tremendous business leader and ran Secur-tel Security Systems for over 32 years. She was also a member of Rotary International and past president of the Lake Butler Chapter. Since 1956, Lake Butler Rotary Club has received two Presidential Citations (less than 16% of clubs worldwide receive this award). Diana earned this prestigious award for her work in the 2002-2003 presidency. Her success outside of the home was amazing, but Diana was most proud of being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married, for 51 years, to the love of her life, Danny. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian and member of the First Christian Church in Lake Butler. 

Diana is survived by her husband, Danny Joe Word; son, Scott Richard Word; daughter, Becky Lee; and grandchildren, Joseph Brandon Word and Eric Tyler (Shilah Rayne) Word all of Lake Butler. 

A funeral service to honor Diana’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22, at 11:00 am at her church, First Christian Church. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Her interment will be at Hunt Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bro. Art Peterson.
