Ms. Clydie Rigdon, age 96, of Starke, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2018, at Kindred Hospital of North Florida. She was born in Lakeland, Georgia, on February 5, 1922, to the late Nathan Pitts and the late Matti Strickland Pitts. Ms. Rigdon lived in Jacksonville, Florida, most of her life and moved to Starke, FL in 2006. She married the love of her life, the late Joseph Leon Rigdon, and they enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage. She was all about her family and took pride in being a homemaker. She enjoyed life, listening to music, and going on cruises. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leon Rigdon; daughter, Joanne Peterson; grandchildren, Steven and Donna Ann Peterson; both parents, Nathan and Matti Rigdon; and her sisters, Goldie, Pearl, and Irma.
Ms. Clydie is survived by her son, Donald Rigdon of Starke, Florida; daughters, Barbara Jean Stevens of Jacksonville, Florida and Alice May Sutton of Reading, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Mike (Vilma) Peterson, Stephanie Griffin, William James Sutton, and Joseph (Jessica) Rigdon; 13 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
A Celebration of Life for Ms. Rigdon will be held on Monday, December 17, at 12:00pm, at the Archer Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Lake Butler, FL. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 11:00am (one hour before the service) at the funeral home. Services will be officiated by Reverend Gabriel Trevino, Pastor of River City Community Church in Jacksonville, FL. Her interment will be held at Crosby Lake Cemetery in Bradford County, FL.
