Clay Derek Alligood

Clay Derek Alligood, age 40, of Alachua, FL, passed away on March 4, 2024, at the North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. Clay was born on January 5, 1984, to Billie and Diane Dudley Alligood. He was a lifelong resident of Alachua and a 2002 graduate of Sante Fe High School where he lettered in football. After moving to Alabama to pursue college football dreams, Clay quickly felt the farm calling his name and he moved back home. Clay started taking classes at Florida Bible College in Graceville, FL, before transferring and finishing his Bachelor’s degree at Liberty University and was working on his Master’s degree. He was a huge Gator fan and loved playing golf. Most important, he loved being “Uncle Clay” to his nieces; Trinity, Gracelynn, and Presley Dean. He was a member at Victory Springs Independent Baptist Church. Clay was preceded in death by his Grandma, Oscar Dudley; his me-maw, Marjorie Alligood; and his uncle, Carey Kwiatkowski.

Clay leaves behind his parents, Billie and Diane Alligood of Alachua; his sister, Amanda (Clayton) McCullers of Alachua; three nieces, Trinity, Gracelynn, and Presley Dean all of Alachua; uncles and aunts, Jerry and Teddy Alligood of Alachua, Bruce and Debbie Alligood of Alachua, Yvonne Kwiatkowski of Alachua, and Mary Dudley Davis of Tampa; numerous extended family also survive.

A funeral to celebrate Clay’s life will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 11:00 am at New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Alachua. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00 am at the church. He will be laid to rest next to his grandma at Forest Meadows Cemetery East in Gainesville.
