Charles Eugene Coleman, a beloved husband and father passed away on May 1, 2026, at Riverwood Health and Rehab in Starke, Florida, after an extended illness. Born on January 18, 1936, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Charles lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and country.
Charles proudly served in the United States Navy for nearly four years as a medic, exemplifying his commitment to service and care for others. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of Florida, where he graduated with a degree in engineering. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished career, culminating in his retirement from Monsanto Company as a professional engineer.
Known for his loving and caring nature, Charles was cherished by his family and friends alike. He was a devoted husband to the late Donna Lenora Dekle Coleman and a dedicated father. His legacy lives on through his sons, Nelson Coleman and his wife Tammy, and Jim Coleman and his wife Candice. Charles also found joy in his role as grandfather to Lenora Vaughn, Ruby Diaz, Andrea West, Danny Coleman, and Justin Coleman. His family extended further to include 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, who all carry forward his memory and values.
Charles’ siblings, Louis Daley, Mary Lou Dougherty, and Connie Remaly, survive him, while his sisters Joan Waltz and Judy Skoutelas preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Harriet Eschenbach Coleman, and his daughter, Charlene Short.
Beyond his professional and familial commitments, Charles had a passion for traveling and the outdoors. He had a passion for traveling around the country and exploring different parts of the land. He also relished hunting and fishing, activities that brought him great peace and fulfillment throughout his life.
A memorial service honoring Charles Eugene Coleman will be held at 11:00am on May 16, 2026, at the Archer-Milton Funeral Home located at 55 N Lake Ave, Lake Butler, Florida 32054.
Charles Eugene Coleman’s life was one of profound service, unyielding dedication, and boundless love. His memory will remain an enduring beacon to all who knew him.
