Obituary

Mrs. Carol Jones, 87, of Brooker, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Born on February 14, 1939, to the late Sam and Videll Smith, Carol lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering faith, and genuine kindness.

For more than 30 years, Carol faithfully worked at the GE factory, where she helped manufacture batteries.

A devoted Christian, Carol found great joy in worshipping with her church family at New River Baptist Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she reflected Christ's love through her gentle spirit and compassionate heart. Those who knew Carol knew her as a meek and soft-spoken woman who never had a harsh word to say about anyone. She possessed a rare gift of making others feel loved simply by being in her presence.

Carol found happiness in life's simple blessings. She enjoyed sewing and tending to her beautiful flowers. She was also an exceptional cook whose meals brought family together around the table, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. More than anything, she loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Bobby Jones; her parents, Sam and Videll Smith; and her son-in-law, Shane Thornton.

Carol leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her love and gentle example: her daughters, Kathy (Sammy) Hallmark and Theresa Thornton, both of Brooker; her grandchildren, Amy Hartley, Wendy (Eric) Hall, and Waylon Thornton; her great-grandchildren, Kyler Herndon, Lindsey Hall, Eric Hall, Dex Thornton, Kannon Hartley, and Koy Hartley; her sister, Mary Sue Willingham; her sister-in-law, Vickie Thomas; family friend, Mike Colson; along with many extended family members, cherished friends, and her church family.

A funeral service honoring Carol's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 27, 2026, at New River Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Blakeslee officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family invites those who knew and loved Carol to join them in celebrating her life and the lasting legacy of faith, love, and kindness she leaves behind.
