Carlene Blackwelder Newsome

Carlene Blackwelder Newsom of Lake Butler, Florida passed away peacefully on September 7, 2017. She was born on July 2, 1930 in Lulu, Florida to the late Jacob and Eula Mae Blackwelder. Carlene was a wonderful wife, as well as a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Lulu Baptist Church, where in her younger years she served as the vice-president of the WMU and taught children's Sunday school. Carlene is preceded in death by her husband Gladwell Newsom and grandson Darren DeLoach. She is survived by her son and caregiver Chris Newsom of Lake Butler, Fl, son Steve Newsom of Valdosta, Ga, and daughter Verona Kay DeLoach of Lake Butler, Fl. She is also survived by her grandson Jason DeLoach of Jacksonville, Fl, granddaughter Tamara Martin, and Kimberly Hanson, as well as six great grandchildren. Carlene loved to cook for family and friends. She also loved telling jokes. Carlene was dearly loved by everyone who knew her. Her beautiful smile and sweet spirit will greatly missed.
