Benny Frank Richardson

Mr. Benny “Franklin” Richardson, age 80, of Sanderson, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2022, at the Macclenny Nursing and Rehab facility, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Franklin was born on January 5, 1942, in Sanderson, FL, to Lacy and Emma Laura (McDonald) Richardson. Soon after school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served until he was honorably discharged. He came back home and in 1961, married the love of his life, Lura Drulene Luke. The couple moved to Jacksonville in 1964 where Mr. Franklin worked for Barco-Duval Inc. He worked as their General Superintendent for 28 years until opening his own business in 1991, R&B Contracting, Inc. Known for his work ethic, Mr. Franklin remained active in the business until his health recently declined. In 1996, he and his wife were able to move back to Sanderson after they purchased “the farm”. Although proud of the company he built, coming home to the farm, riding the ranger with grandkids, checking on his cows, and being with family, is what he really enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Lura Drulene “Ging” Richardson; his parents; his brothers, Harry, Wilford, and Vernon Richardson; and sister, Redith Bryant.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his son, Franklin E. “Benny” (Debbie) Richardson of Sanderson; daughter, Rhonda K. (Huey “Peanut”) Davis of Middleburg; grandchildren, Lavaughn (Emma) Morris, Melissa Davis, Brent (Corine) Davis, Benny (Corley) Richardson, Christopher Richardson, and Amber (Cotey) Smith; great grandchildren, Tori, Dallas, Skyler, Abby, Gavin, Brynlee, Boone, and Carolyn (on the way); one great-great grandchild, Wrenley (on the way); his siblings, Earl (Iris) Richardson of Glen St. Mary, Rachel (Marvin) Lauramore and Joyce Griffis all of Sanderson; a host of extended family also survive.
A funeral to honor Mr. Franklin’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 26, at 1:00 pm, at the church he attended, Christian Fellowship Temple. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, January 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the church. His interment will follow at South Prong Cemetery in Sanderson. His services will be officiated by Bro. David Thomas, Bro. Jim Cox, and his great-nephew, Bro. Bryan Richardson.
