Alice Imogene Wilson Seeger, of Alachua, Florida, passed away on September 12, 2026, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after an extended illness. She was born on March 20, 1947, in Alachua, and hers was a life rooted deeply in the land and family she loved so dearly.

Imogene was the youngest of six children, raised on the family farm in Alachua. That farm remained close to her heart all her days, and she continued to live on the land until her passing. She was a 1965 graduate of Sante Fe High School and later retired from the University of Florida, where she served as Pediatrics Residency Coordinator. Imogene learned from an early age the meaning of hard work, perseverance, and responsibility. Life on the farm was not always easy, but it taught her that good things came from dedication and determination. She worked alongside family members tending the crops and helping with the many daily responsibilities that came with farm life. Those early years shaped the person Imogene would become, instilling a strong work ethic and an appreciation for family, the land, and the simple rewards that come from an honest day’s work.

She found joy in simple and lasting pleasures. Imogene loved being outdoors, whether she was working in her yard, growing flowers, or spending time on the river. In her younger years, she also enjoyed camping and water skiing. Her life reflected a steady appreciation for God’s creation and for the everyday beauty found close to home.

Above all else, Imogene loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Vean Seeger; her daughter, Christy Collar Barber, and Christy’s husband, Kelly Dean Barber; her grandson, Julian Thomas Barber; her granddaughter, Haley Barber Schentrup; her great-granddaughter, Lucy Lyn Barber; her sister, Elaine Wills, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her father and mother, Aubrey Bishop Wilson and Irene Mayo Wilson, and by her sisters, Chris Haddock, Betty Johnson, and Audrey Irby, and her brother George Wilson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Alachua.

Alice Imogene Seeger will be remembered as a faithful soul whose life was firmly planted in family, hard work, and the land she called home. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
