Ms. Alice Joy Green, age 87, passed away on November 18, 2020, at the North Florida Regional Medical Hospital in Gainesville. She was born on January 20, 1933 in Breese, IL to the late Harry and Maude Smith Lappe. Ms. Green moved to Bradford County at a young age and spend most of her life there. She worked at the Tip Top Bakery in Starke before becoming and insurance clerk at UF Shands Hospital until her retirement. IN 1994, she moved to Lake Butler to be close to family. She always had a passion for baking, gardening, sewing, and shopping, especially at Walmart. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Ms. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey T. Green; her children, Gunnery Sgt. Carl Ray Fillyaw and Dixie Carol Fillyaw Wiley; her parents, Harry and Maude Lappe; her siblings, Robert Lappe, Beverly Contos, and Dot Anderson.
Ms. Green is survived by her children, Roger N. (Linda) Fillyaw of Newberry, Donald C. (Joyce) Clemons and Ronald (Michele) Clemons both of Lake Butler; grandchildren, Kimberly Moody, David Grady, Dawn Adams, Robert Fillyaw, Tonya Jones, Jennifer Mejia, Curtis Clemons, Carl "Chip" Clemons, and Bianca Clemons; 17 great-grandchildren; and her longtime caregivers, Brunes Perry and Ann Debose; other extended family members also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Ms. Green will be held on Saturday, November 21, at 11:00am at the Archer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00am. Her interment will be at Sapp Cemetery in Raiford.
